Wire Insert Installation Instructions

1. Drill hole to the correct diameter and depth as specified in the tables. Image of hole being drilled
2. Tap a thread to the correct depth & fit classification as specified in the tables, using any one of a variety of wire insert taps. Image of thread being tapped in to the correct depth and fit
3. Gauge the tapped hole using a 'go'/'not go' wire insert thread plug gauge. Image of tapped hole being gauged
4. Install the insert to the desired depth using any one of a variety of manual or automatic inserting tools. Image of installing the insert
5. After installation remove the driving tang from the insert using the correct size tang break punch. A sharp hammer blow will shear the tang at the break off notch with out disturbing the remainder of the insert. Image of removing the driving tang from the insert
6. Gauge the fitted insert using a standard 'go'/'not go' thread plug gauge. Image of gauging the fitted insert
